Does your dog love to sniff? Put that nose to work in the most exciting way possible! Our Scent Detection 1 course is designed to introduce you and your dog to the incredible world of scent detection, where they’ll learn how to search, indicate, and build confidence in a fun and rewarding environment. Scent Detection 2 builds on that foundation.
Why Scent Detection?
Dogs experience the world primarily through their nose. Tapping into
their natural scenting abilities provides them with mental stimulation, a
constructive outlet for energy, and an incredible confidence boost.
Whether your dog is young, old, shy, or bold, scent work is an activity
that any dog can excel in!
Key Skills You and Your Dog Will Learn:
- Understanding how dogs use their nose and how scent moves in different environments
- Introducing and pairing a specific target odour
- Teaching a strong and reliable search indication
- Building drive and motivation to search
- Working through different search patterns and problem-solving
challenges - Increasing search difficulty while maintaining accuracy and
enthusiasm - Handling skills to read and support your dog’s search behaviour
